Professional Learning Communities



Well, I'm back.  I've been at a conference with the rest of Rio Vista's Leadership Team.  We learned a great deal about how to set up Professional Learning Communities.  This is a fancy term for simply organizing schools to more effectively use our resources and help students learn.  We are looking forward to putting many of these ideas into practice next year to better serve your children.

Abigail Adams



Abigail Adams was the wife of one president and the mother of another.  But more than that, she was an accomplished and important person in her own right.  Mrs. Adams spoke against slavery and for women's rights long before most of her contemporaries.

Ben Franklin: American Original



Inventor, scientist, writer, printer, publisher, and one of America's Founding Fathers - Ben Fanklin was a true American original.  Fourth graders are reading and learning about the American Revolution and the the remarkable men and women who helped create our country.

Circuit Electricity



In an electric circuit, electricity flows from a power source (such as a battery) through connectors (like wires) to a load - anything that uses electricity to work: a light bulb, a computer, a radio, etc.

Fillmore Aquatics Center



Summer is coming and that means swimming!  Fillmore Aquatics Center is having a free swim day and open house this Saturday, May 17, from 12:00 to 4:00.  Your child is taking home the summer program schedule and information about other special events at the center.
