Today we started our new Language Arts unit "Change Over Time." As part of this unit we began an experiment with bread slices.
We put a slice of bread in each of four zippered plastic sandwich bags. We were careful not to touch the first slice. This slice was labeled "Control." With the other slices, we coughed on one, touched one with our hands, and rubbed the fourth one on a desk top. These were labeled "Cough", "Touch", and "Contact" respectively. We will observe the slices every day for the next two weeks, noting any changes.
What do you think will happen? What will they look like? Will they get moldy? Will they get equally moldy, or will some slices get moldier than other? Which ones? Why?
