The Treatment

Fourth graders are reading the book "Wringer" by Jerry Spinelli.  In the book, Palmer gets The Treatment when he turns nine years old.  One of the older boys in the neighborhood hits him on the arm nine times, once for each year of his birthday.  This is a local tradition.  Palmer's mother doesn't approve, but Palmer is happy to be one of the guys.
