Floods!



In our continuing study of natural disasters, fourth graders are learning about floods.  A flood is an excess of water.  How would you like to drive the car in the picture above?  Speaking of disasters, did you know that the word disaster comes from the Latin "dis" plus "astrum" and means a bad or unlucky star.

Advertising Techniques




Did you know that the average American sees about 20,000 TV commercials every year?  That's a lot of ads!  It is important for students to understand advertising techniques, the methods advertisers use to sell products, so that they can be more discerning consumers.



This week fourth graders are writing and producing their own commercials.  So what do you think this object is?

The group with Omar, Johnathan, Cynthia, Lea, Nathaniel O., and Camila are preparing a commercial to sell this object to you.
